About Angela Absher.

This strong, deep, vibrant lady is humble but integrous to her truth. I decided to share her whole verbatim to me as I know you will enjoy her grace and honesty.

“My meditation experience comes from a life long pursuit of divinity. As a child rowing my grandfather’s old dory on Frenchman Bay I was filled with awe, wonder, and respect for the magnificence surrounding me. In church I learned this was ”God”. And in church I learned I was a sinner. That never sat well with me. It didn’t seem true. So I left the church in pursuit of greater understanding. And found it.

I’ve worked with many teacher around the world that you may or may not have heard of: Baba Ram Das, Tsultrim Alione, Professor Chang, Olatunji, Pier Valyat Khan, Muktananda, Baba Hari Das, Sogial Rinpoche, Tenzin Wangial, Gangten Tulku and more. I’m 82 so I’ve been able to study and practice with many teachers for long periods of time.

There are three teachers however that are key to my present understanding: Oscar Ichazo, an eclectic, Bolivian, samurai style teacher. I studied with him for seven years traveling into and out of drugs, sex, and rock and role. Oscar gave me guts.

I studied with Namkia Norbu for a good ten years. With him I became more familiar with the Tibetan Buddhist history, traditions, and practice.

The purest and most valuable lessons have come from Thrangu Rinpoche whom I first met around 1995. I had the extraordinary experience of bringing computers into his monastery in the Himalayan mountains of Nepal. He remains my primary teacher today. It is he and his monk Khenpo Jigme who have encouraged me to teach. I will include his web site and a You Tube video that was made by his young monks in an English class I taught there around 2009.

Along with these adventures I’ve enjoyed having three children, four husbands and a career on Wall Street. But that’s a story for another day.”
